From a handful of charter members meeting downtown to our home on North Travis Street, Trinity has been sharing Jesus’ love in Sherman for more than seventy years.
Under the leadership of charter member and local businessman Henry L. Scharff, Trinity held its first worship service in the Chamber of Commerce building downtown on September 13, 1954.
Trinity was formally organized on June 24, 1954, by thirty-one charter members. Before the congregation had a building of its own, worship was held in places all around the city:

Trinity began as a mission of the American Lutheran Church (1930), a church body of German background. Through later Lutheran mergers, that church became part of today’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Today Trinity is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and part of the Northern Texas–Northern Louisiana Synod.
